Subject:ACid 5.0c Crashes with VSTi

I could swear I posted regarding an issue last night, and now my post is not in the forum.
If it appears twice, its not my intention.

I am having a terrible time with MIDI files and softsynths causing crashes. I have avoided MIDI because, well, MIDI is MIDI.
However, now I am using sample libraries that cannot be played back as WAV files. INSTEAD, I must first play the sounds in via MIDI and softsynth/sampler before capturing them as wav files and working with them the way I had been doing so joyfully since ACID 1.0.

This is all fine with me when it works, but ACID crashes every ten minutes or so when I am playing softsynths via MIDI. Right now I even have a saved .acd file that will crash every single time I try to playback with a single simple MIDI track and the NI FM7 express softsynth.

Am I alone in this issue, or does anyone know a setting I might try changing, or might this known bug with a workaround?

I was having real bad problems with soft synths crashing . I use reason , stylus and atmosphere . I contacted sony and they told me to run a spyware killer . At the time I thought they were full of crap and making excuses . But I did it and it fixed the problem up . I used to get crashes multiple times in a session now its crashed about 3 times in a few months .
its worth a try

I agree it is worth a try and very wise. And I already have it covered, regularly maintaining my machine.
It appears that engaging the loop button in the playback transport controls had something to do with it. Without looping engaged, no crashing. Never seen this problem before.
I deleted several muted, unnecessary midi and audio tracks and the problem has now gone away for that mix. Not sure what to do if it comes back.

acid is awful with VSTi's, but the later versions of acid 5 each got a little better so make sure you're as up to date as possible.

then see if you have all the stylus updates and stuff. i know "The Grand" crashed Acid all the time and after I grabbed a patch off the steinberg site it didn't. Still some other vstis that are up to date crash acid all the time for me and there's just not fix.

If i didn't hate the interface of almost every competitor to acid I'd be using them because Sony hasn't quite figured out VSTs.

Acid 6 will be the last test.

Couldn't agree more.

I only ACID for loops / one shots / effects and automation --

I develop all the audio in FLSTUDIO -- render to wav with markers and ACID loops -- then arrange / mix and render my files in ACID.
