I have acid pro 5 now and was thinking about getting a drum machine for $499 and using it with acid. Now that acid 6 will be coming out in march i'm trying to decide if it would be better to get acid 6 or keep acid 5 and get the drum machine? thanks

You could upgrade to ACID Pro 6 and then buy yourself a soft synth drum sequencer of some sort. It'd come out about the same.

Of course, I'm a little biased, so... :)

What drum machine were your looking forward to buy ?
My guess is a allmighty MPC1000 with the new 2.0 o.s.

In any ways, as mD said, if you spare just a little bit more, you'll be able to buy both, which I bet would be a very awesome setup. The genuine feel of a drum machine, with the same ease of use and power of Acid.

Definitely the v6 upgrade. I think the midi drum maps will come in v handy.

I use RMIV, StylusRMX and FXpansion DR008. My favourite synth for drums at the moment is Liveslice which uses loops.

Obvious question - do you want to use it live as well?

If you want to take your Acid music live, without a laptop, then some kind of sampler with big memory is good.

If you are comfortable with a laptop, you would probbly want Acid 6 and a control surface.

If you don't plan to go live, I would opt for Acid 6 and use the spare cash for a drum soft synth.
