Subject:Clicks and sound interruptions on playback

When I'm using the ASIO Driver with 10ms latency (With an Audigy 2 Platinum Pro sound card), I can't playback more than 20 tracks at 24bits / 96 kbps with Acir Pro 5.c

I need to change to Windows Clasic Driver to correct the problem. But, I can't use this driver for perform recording (because the high latency)

¿Is that normal or I have some problem?

Clicks are sometime due to the latency on your sound card being too low. This happens because the lower the latency the smaller the buffers and so your CPU has to keep up with filling the buffers more quickly.

You don’t have your system specs in your profile so I can’t tell what kind of PC you have but it is possible that your PC or hard drive configuration is too slow. 20 tracks is not a lot but if you have a lot of effects on those tracks you CPU might be too busy processing effects to keep up with filling the audio buffers.

Try increasing the latency and see if the clicks go away. If they do, you may need a more powerful PC or a more optimal hard drive configuration.

Thanks JonnyRoy

I wroted my System Specs in my profile.
Additional information is: I have a SATA Hard Disk 250 Gb 7200 RPM.

Considering your comments I thik that this is not a problem, so I'm using Windos Drivers for Playback my projects and ASIO 10ms latency for rcording, ans I'm recording using a single track for play back.

I'm using all tracks at 24bits / 190 Kbps, because the sound quality is better for mixing and effect processing, so I think that this is a solution.

If you have more recomendations for me: thank's

i'm not sure, but i believe the Audigy cards are locked at 16 bit/48 kHz. so, if you're using 24/96 in your projects the cpu has to resample all the audio on the fly. that could account for the performance issues.
