fielding problem

On my last two projects I'm noticing fielding problems on some of my 3D transitions. The image is really falling apart. Large rippling garbage. Of course certain movement makes it more obvious. The project is set up correctly, the video is correct (lower field first) so I'm at a loss as to what to do. Is there an item in the internal settings for this? Any help would be appreciated.

how high a res are ur images??

i found this happens quite often with super high res images, as Vegas scaling down can sometimes poo itself.. especially if ur blending fields.. i always interpolate, but to aleviate this problem, try to have ur images about twice the res of your final output.. not 5 or 6 times ur final output..

Are you using V6?
If not add Reduce Interlace Flicker to the events properties, that usually fixes it. And render at Best.

I'm using V6. This is with video clips not stills. I have used reduce interlace flicker and that does help, but it also blurrs the image a bit.
Because it looks so bad, i was wondering if the transition is somehow changing the fielding order and if there was some way to know.

vegas is prolly one of the better field managing apps, and wont screw up any order...

with this problem, i find that if you are editing with fields, and u set ur velocity envelope to zero, SOMETIMES it locks into the opposing field from where you are..
This causes an incessant flicker and looks bloody horrible..

as DV is typically lower field, try to set the zero point of the env and monitor it externally on an interlaced monitor or tv.

i can honestly say that the only prob ive had this is when im using high res stills or stills which were taken from "between fields" from a video source...

If im shooting and editing progressive scan i dont get this problem..
