Subject:8.0b = No More ASIO

I have downloaded and installed the 8.0b update. After doing so, I no longer have ASIO as a selectable option in the Audio tab. The only options I have now are Windows Classic Wave and Microsoft Sound Mapper. I did attempt to playback a previous session I had recorded with ASIO 2.0 prior to updating Sound Forge to 8.0b, but it did not play correctly with the Windows Classic Wave option selected. Is this a problem with the 8.0b update? Nothing in the release notes states that ASIO has been removed. Message last edited on8/4/2005 3:53:12 PM byJamil. |

Also, I uninstalled 8.0b and re-installed 8.0a, and everything is working fine again. I really would like to know what the deal is though. Will future versions of Sound Forge support ASIO or not? |

Same thing happened with me. But then I reinstalled 8.0b and was able to choose ASIO again. So what's up with that Sony? |

Thanks for the info. I did this too, and now the 8.0b install seems to be okay. The trick was to install the 8.0b update, start Sound Forge receiving an error about devices already being in use, close Sound Forge, and uninstall it. Right after that, reinstall 8.0b entering the license key. |

Same problem here. After installing 8.0b, I have only Microsoft Sound Mapper and Windows Classic Wave Driver in Preferences/Audio/Audio Device Type. I have a Delta 66, so I expected to see at least ASIO. Mitch I. |

I updated with no problems - I still have ASIO - I over wrote the install. Did you un-install and then re-install or just install over the current install of soundforge? Try un-installing your soundcard drivers and re-installing them |

This is a bug in Sound Forge. Not only does this occur when performing the update to 8.0b, but it also occurs when Sound Forge 8.0b crashes. It happens when ASIO drivers are being used prior to the update, or when SF crashes. An uninstall of my sound card drivers followed by a reinstall restored access to ASIO after the SF crash though. |

I also had to uninstall 8.0b and reinstall to get ASIO back in the Audio device type. I had not this problem when I installed 8.0a. |

Same problem here... but resolved in one easy way. Simply restart the setup from the sony setup foder, and select "repair" and ASIO will come back . Small setup bug.... |

Provolone I can't even get that far. I click the 8.0b setup...click yes to all for overwrite...it stops at that point. Did you do anything different? Ed. |

The sfasio.dll file was missing from the Audio Hardware folder for me after the update. I extracted it from the sfasio.cab file in the setup folder into the Audio Hardware folder and ASIO was available as a choice for audio again. It works for me on two machines with 8.0b. (Audio hardware is Echo Audio) Ben |

hi guys yes. the right file is forge80_enu.msi, the main setup. abour your prob SHTUNOT, this is the response from sofo about it: "Vegas and ACID resample your files behind the scenes and make them conform to the project sample rate. Sound Forge does not do this, so if your sample rate is locked to 48kHz, then files that are other sample rates will play back at the wrong speed because Sound Forge is not playing them back at the same sample rate. Aside from resampling, the only other way to fix this is to unlock the sample rate in your sound card's control panel, if that's possible." i have this prob too with my pulsar2 card because i can't unlock the asio sample rate. for me the only way to fix this is to change the sample rate inside the pulsar project or to resample the file BEFORE playing . if i try to listen to a file with a different sample rate than the sample rate specified, the scope platform crash and no more sound from anything. only with asio playback, obviously, no prob with wave playback.. if you own a creamware card this is the solution, otherwise try to unlock the sample rate. |

This is indeed a bug in the 8.0b installer. Our recommended solution is to uninstall and reinstall Sound Forge. Please use the following steps: 1) Uninstall Sound Forge 8.0b using the Add/Remove Programs control panel (Start>Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs). 2) Locate the Sound Forge 8.0b installer file you downloaded from our website, or browse to the Sony Setup files on your hard drive and run the Setup.exe file normally located at: C:\Program Files\Sony Setup\Sound Forge 8.0\Setup.exe. 3) Install and register as normal. Thank you. |

Hello. I am working with RME cards. I noticed in 8.0 some outputs in the Prefs where missing for RME 9632. In 8.0a same thing was happening and word clock would not slave. With 8.0b I have The Microsoft driver and no ASiO but now my word clock slaves, things play at right speed and all my outputs show up for the 9632 under the windows driver. I tryy reinstalling. . |

" This is indeed a bug in the 8.0b installer. " Has the installer been updated to solve this issue? I've been postponing my update pending official ackowledment that this is no longer a problem. Thanks. Angels |

Fabulous... Worked like a charm. I installed both SF 8.0b and Vegas 4 (in that order). No ASIO appeared for SF but it did for Vegas. This fix worked perfectly the first time. I right clicked the forge80_enu.msi file in the Sony Setup directory, chose "repair" and it uninstalled SF. Then right clicked the .MSI filen chose "repair" again and it reinstalled a fully operational SF with the ASIO. I'm happy. Message last edited on12/7/2005 7:41:27 PM bydrhock. |
