Subject:Sudden Project glitch

A project I've been working with for some time has suddenly overnight developed a terrible stuttering glitch. There are 40 tracks - mainly small sound effects loops and voice over. Other project files remain ok. Nevertheless, I've reload display drivers - reloaded Acid (5b/c), etc. Have 1g of RAm. track files are stored on seperate SATA drive

Knowledgebase suggests only 5-6 desk based tracks plus plug in/envelopes is stable. Surely, that can't be right.

Any ideas

I've been having more and more problems like this, are you using acd-zip files or just regular acid fileds to save your projects? I get way too much glitchiness lately, not sure what's too blame, but it's definitely worse on some projects than others and seems to resolve itself a bit as long as I keep the mixer window hidden.

martin: Have you tried completely uninstalling ACID and then reinstalling? You mentioned you "reloaded" ACID and your video drivers but I wasn't sure if you were referring to reinstalling or not. You'll definitely want to go through a complete uninstall routine before installing newer/different video drivers.

I can get away with a lot more than 5-6 disk-based tracks. I'm sure others could as well as long as their systems are lean and mean.

as i mentioned in another thread i had same problems with glitching and crackling. i disabled hyperthreading in bios and all went away. i can now scroll a massive overloaded project without glitching or crackling!
