Just noticed something SF8 Batch Converter. The batch converter window is modal. This is really annoying. For example, I wanted to get a large batch job set up to run during a meeting today. However, since the window is modal, I couldn't set it up, and minimize the app until I wanted it to start. |

Another annoyance is the fact that you can't remove files from the batch using the delete key, only by moving your mouse cursor over and clicking "Remove". By habit, I tend to go for the delete key first in almost all applications I use, and I can't do that with batch converter. I would also like to see the ability to que up files for the batch, rather than adding them via an explorer-type window. This way, I don't have to repeatedly click the Add File button and scrolling through a large folder to find several specific files. |

A third one: Batch processor littlers you folders with .sfl files, even if the app prefs tell SF to delete these files when closing the app file. Can we suppress these files somehow? A fourth one: It seems that if you want to simplt batch convert from .wav to .aif, you must enter a save option to speciify .aif, but in doing so, you loose the ability to specify "overwrite". So you end up with duplicate files in the dir, when all you really want is to change formats and overwrite. (Or am I missing something?) A Firth one: Why can't "add folder", be used to process all nested subfolders also? (or am I missing something?) |

I definitely agree with the lack of a 'recurse subfolders' option... it is a pain having to add all folders that contain wave files. My biggest gripe however, is this. I set up a batch of more than 27000 files to process, and left my PC on for hours thinking it would process all files. I checked my PC, only to find that after several hours the PC had only converted 2000 files... there was a message on screen - "This file contained an illegal region or marker and has been corrected"... I had to press 'OK' on this for the batch job to continue, and there is no 'OK to all' option! |

This is why I stuck with Wavelab. This implementation of a batch converter has had very little pro workflow thought put into it. From the modal dialog to the clunky interface to the inability to write correct metadata to a converted file - I gave up rather quickly...that was months ago. |

The main reason I purchased Sound Forge 6 was because of Batch Converter. The main reason I have not upgraded to Sound Forge 8 is because of the monumental amount of time I've wasted trying to get it configured to work properly. I should have purchased Adobe from the beginning. Maybe I could have got some work done. |

Everything in this thread is true about the Batch Converter but I am shocked by your suggesting that you set up batch conversions for more than 150 or so files. I have SF8 the full licensed version and SF8 reports an error code after trying to include over a 160 files. I manually break up conversions into batches just to get things done. I must be missing something important, if I could do 1000 files at a time my life would be a lot easier. How are you doing this? Message last edited on3/14/2007 5:05:12 PM byDavid Thiel. |

As well nice renaming features. The GUI is not so adorable but it works very well. |
