Trial will be available shortly. The mailer triggered a couple days earlier due to dyslexic dates...so consider it an announcement until the trial goes up. :-)

OK. It’s official. VASST infinitiCAM the multi-camera editing tool is now available

Some of you may have seen infinitiCAM demoed by Sony Marketing VP Dave C at the last NYC Vegas Users Group meeting (discussed in this thread). You can talk about it now. ;-)

VASST infinitiCAM comes with setups for 4, 9, 25, 36 ... up to 100 camera tracks and the camera switching engine supports an unlimited number of tracks. It gives you a graphical preview for the 4 and 9 camera setup so you can visually assign any track to any camera position. It also has quick buttons to create camera tracks for you and assign them to the preview automatically. When you’re done editing, it can remove the camera markers and even restore them if you need to continue editing camera switches.

You can download the trial version and watch a video of infinitiCAM in action from the infinitiCAM product page on the VASST site.

Hey JR -

Was at the NYSVUG last month and saw it in action - All I can say is WAY COOL! Makes it very simple so even a newbie like myself could handle multiple sources!

Good luck with it!

I got the demo last night but havent tried it yet. From what it looks like, this is what multicamming should be like in all NLEs. Ease of use. I still love JetDVs as well. Two mighty fine products that you cant go wrong with at all.

Now if I only owned hundredcameras life would be perfect.

Oh yeah, quick question. Is there a max # of cams that can be used for HDV or does it work with tracks regardless of the media format?
DavidMcKnight wrote on 12/6/2005, 12:27 PM
I believe it works for as many cams as your CPU will support until it explodes.

Any idea what the max number of cams would be on a AMD 54 3700+ 1GB Ram ofr either DV or HDV?

At the risk of sounding really ignorant (but curious), how is multicam most commonly used? In TV production?
p@mast3rs wrote on 12/6/2005, 4:01 PM
I would think it is accomplished with switches but then again, I have never worked in TV. But I dont think I am too far off.

Multi cam is used in events, and most all post-production scenarios where more than one camera is used. The multicamera tools like infinitiCAM, Excalibur, DoubleTake, and Ultimate S allow you to view all cameras during live playback, and make decisions on the fly if you wish, or make contemplative decisions. Ultimate S and infinitiCAM allow you to save what you've done for switches, and allows you to test/preview more than one multicam "mix" for the client. Of course, you could also always save different veg files for this particular feature as well.

Anyway, the value is that you can see all of your cameras at the same time, making decisions quite easy.
In live television with multicams, a switcher is employed that does pretty well the same thing, with a director calling the shots in a control room. With multicam tools in post, you get to be the director. (and editor) (and producer) (and often, chief janitor)

If you haven't downloaded the demo of UltimateS or infinityCAM and tried it for yourself, you may not realize the amount of time you save if you shoot events with more than one camera. You can see all your edit decisions instantly and on the fly; you literally let the timeline play and, in real time, choose cam1, cam2, cam3 etc. Then, press a button, and 3 seconds later you have a new track of video that contains all your edits. Make a mistake? Need to change one of those edits to occur a few frames before or after? No sweat. Move a marker, push a button, and it's done. All sync'd up. It's so effective and useful, it's silly.

Oh, and that's just one of the tools in UltimateS 2. It's called QuadCam and is good for up to 4 cameras. If you need more, get infinityCAM.

<edit> I don't work for vasst, just an enthusiastic, satisfied customer.

Wow I think I have actually become much smarter haning you guys on the forum. I had no clue I was right about it being a switcher. Maybes theres hope for me yet in this industry.

Looks nice, I use your free Double Take, but the tally feature and "on the fly" choice of either cut or dissolve would be a nice touch, will it work with V-5?

I saw the *** re: V6 only for some features?

Everything in infinitiCAM works in Vegas 5 with the exception of the live switching. This is a Vegas 5 limitation. When you drop a camera marker in Vegas 5 the timeline stops playing and you have to press play again. Not a big deal but we thought you need to know that live switching is only possible with Vegas 6.

Thanks, I will still consider for next project. Still not using HD, so V6 is on hold for now.
