End of clip snapshot problem

In 4 x 3 aspect, taking a snapshot at the very end frame of a clip then placing the snapshot at the end of the clip, they match perfectly. Then after I select 16 x 9 in pan crop for the clip, then select 16 x 9 in pan crop for the snapshot, they no longer match because the snapshot 16 x 9 picks up a tiny black margin on each side of the picture. After resizing the 16 x 9 preset to match the side edges of the snapshot it then matches perfectly. Why?

It depends if you capture from the trimmer or from the timeline.

I ran into this a couple of years ago. Search on my username, and/or check this thread:

In short, I concluded that if one captures animage from the timeline, everything is ok (correct pixel aspect ratio of 0.9191), whereas, a still capture made from the trimmer, will return an image with a pixel aspect ratio of 1.0, resulting in the black borders you mention. This was verified by Sony tech support as "normal" behavior.

This was (and still is) for V4.

I just re-read your post, and noticed that your issue is for a 16x9 crop, so it may not be relevant.

Good luck

You could just put a Velocity envelope on the clip, drop the velocity to 0% at that point, and then extend it out as long as you want.

If it's TRULY the end of the clip, turn off LOOPING and just extend it out as long as you want.

Thanks. I'll do that next time. Just wondered though if that might be some structural problem but I guess it's a non issue.
