Hi all I'm using Acid Pro 4 & recently bought a Behringer Mic-200 pre-amp in order to 'warm up' my vocal & acoustic guitar recordings. I'm finding I get loads of noise/hiss - not sure if this is indicative of all tube pre-amps or whether it's cos it is a low-end pre and I'm using it without a compressor. I'm intrigued about the vocal recording set-up of other Acid users. Do people tend to use software compressors or do the compressing 'front end'? Should the compressing get rid of the noise? I've been told the Samson C-Valve preamp is good - anyone have any recommendations? If anyone can recommend a reasonably priced setup giving a warm vocal sound that I could use with my M-Audio Audiophile 2496 soundcard I'd be much indebted! Thanks v much. LD |

In general, compression adds noise. edit ... Or more accurately, compression amplifies the noise that is there. Any processing step or equipment will add noise. Message last edited on11/28/2005 7:30:36 AM byChienworks. |
