Hey All

I use specatrionics stylus 1.0 for drums . and I have a midi question in general . Is there a way I can stretch or play back a midi file so it will play in half time ? So my project may be 140 but the drums will play at 70.

Unfortunately, No. I had this same problem a while back with a MIDI I had that was played in double-time. There was no way to slow it down because the note-on events and durations are absolute with regard to the tempo. What you need is a utility that would calculate the new note-on time values and durations to actually modify the notes to play faster or slower. I never found such a utility. :(

I've never found a utility that doubles the notelengths, but I've found a free command-line utility that halves the notelengths.

You can find it at www.gnmidi.com. It's called MidiHalf.

It's not exactly a utility but if you have any version of Cakewalk or SONAR this is straightforward (using the Fit to Time function).
