Vegas 5.0d Ripple Edit Problem

Hi, I'm using Vegas 5.0d after using 3.0 for some time. I have a problem which I can't find a solution for.

Say for example I have a series of wavs on a track each one with a region around it. There is redundant space between the end region marker of one wav and the start region marker of the following wav. In Vegas 3.0 I would double click between the regions to select the redundant space, press DEL to delete it, and the data to the right of the deleted space would slide to the left, closing the gap. Regions would go with it and would stay wrapped around their respective wavs.

However in 5.0 the region marker that is to the left of the selected redundant space slides to the left when I delete the space, ruining the region.

Is there a solution to this? I've played with the different ripple edit settings but had no joy. When I double-click to select the redundant space I can then slightly move the left selection marker to the right - and this solves the problem - but it is WAY mroe cumbersome than need be. Does this happen in 6.0?

Thanks!
