Hello all,

i have a music DVd which has a main menu, with the typical bio, credits, play all, performances buttons.. currently when you play the DVd it defaults and highlights the credits button automaticly.. is there any way to change what button on this main menu is highlighted at the start of the DVD ???(I would like the play all button to be the default button that is highlighted )

In other words, how do you chnage a button on a menu, so that become the default button which is highlighted ???

Thanks to all
Mike m.

I'm not sure if you can set a default button from a root (start) menu but you can put in a start video (1 sec of all black/no sound if you want) and set it as the start, then set the end action (destination) to point to your startup menu with the destination item being the button you want as default.

If you are using DVDA3 you can simply use the link feature to make a button a starting point to which you can navigate to all the other buttons in the order you choose. There is also a button heirarchy list that should be an option to display on teh left hand pane. I would try to be more specific, but my DVDA3 is stuck at the splash screen at the moment and I need to get some shut eye:) I hope this helps. The link feature is not available in previous versions.

Hello,

So far no luck.. got to be a way to do this..I tried linking to the button i want it to default to, and the problem is, it plays that button automaticly.. which is not what i want..
Not sure if i can see the Button on the left) I do see the heirarchy, but i do not see a way to cahnge which button is the default button which gets highlighted when i go to that menu..
My client wants it to start on one button, and so far i cannot get there..

Thanks,
Mike m

Try this: in the 'project overview' window select your menu
Then drag the 'movie' you want to be default highlighted to the first position under that menu

Hello,

OK thanks.. In desperation(deadline due) I found another solution.. i deleted several of the buttons until the one i wanted became the default highlighted button.. and then i added back the buttons i had deleted..Not exactly graceful or efficient, but it seemd to work..

Thanks,
Mike m.

Just to expand a little on jrazz comments, on the left of the DVDA display is a root and tree structure representing the elements of the DVD menu. It looks alot like a Windows Explorer view.

On a menu, the default highlighted button will be the first button in the tree for that menu or on top. If you wish to change the default button, simply left click on the desired button and drag it to the top of that menu/submenu. This works on the root menu as well as all submenus. You achieved the same thing by deleting all the buttons but the one you wanted default and then adding them back, but it was undoubtably more work.
