Hello :D

I'm having a PROBLEM (arg!!! ..sigh ..) with MIDI recording in ACID pro 5. I use an external keyboard called MIDISTUDIO 2 (very basic), it works with USB.

I also use some VSTi plugin to have a cool sound. Here is how my problem happens, it happens with ANY VSTi plugin exept the midi softsynth one :

1 - I open a blank new project

2 - Add a new midi track and select a VSTi plugin (like rgca triangle II for example)

3 - Record the midi take, then stop it when i'm done (the bug happens with very short recording takes, 2 or 3 secs)

4 - i listen my new recorded take ... Til' here everything is fine ...

5 - and then i push the stop button and ACID freezes undefinitly !!!!!!!!......holly macaroni. The only option left is to kill the acid5.exe process, mwahaha .. bouhouhou ..sniff sniff..muf ...mmm ..gnni.


It happens all the time, with very basic VSTI .. even with a blank project with acid5 the only program openned. I don't understand ....

I've just changed my motherboard, processor ... reinstalled ACID....and the problem is BACK !!!!!!!!!!! argggggg .... i feel so sad. I don't know how to figure this problem out, and without being able to record from my keyboard i feel like a noodle. Please help .... Midi is trying to get me ! help help ...

Did anyone experienced the same problem ? could it be the crappy usb connection ?

Any help would be more than over-greatly appreciated, need is say ..

It doesn't sound like anything to do with the keyboard. Have you tried saving the project BEFORE you listen to your recorded phrase, then closing down Acid, reopening it, playing the phrase and pressing stop? If it still happens, try the same thing with the keyboard disconnected. Or try loading a MIDI file recorded somewhere else. The aim is to try to find what is different about your circumstance that is causing the bug.

yes i have tried that and it works. In fact i now know where my problem comes from, but i don't seem to be able to solve it ! here it is if you can help it would be awesome :

the problem happens when i check the option "MidiStudio" in the preference panel, in the "Make these device available for MIDI input" board. When i check this box then when i record something it just freezes afterward and there's nothing i can do..otherwise the problem doesn't happen if i don't enable the MIDI input keyboard. The strangest thing is that the problem happens when i don't even plug my keyboard ... it's just checking the box that brings to this problem. I've tryed to change the preference and uncheck the box after i recorded something but it freezes too.

Do you know what i could or should do ???
