Sorry for the stupid Q, but I'm in a real bind here.... I'm using Sony Sound Forge Audio Studio to edit an existing audio file I have. The file is 128k, 44.1, 16-bit, mp3. After editing, I want to save it as a 64k, 44.1, 16-bit, mp3. For the life of me, I can't seem to figure out how to do it (it seems that 64k's cannot be saved at 44.1). This is for a spoken-word podcast file for work. Thanks. |

Your 44,100 Hz sample rate is too high to support the 64Kbps stereo bitrate. You could either use a lower sample rate, or save as mono, or do both to further reduce the file size. Since this is spoken-word, a 22,050 Hz sample rate should be sufficient. Create a custom template with your new settings. Give it a new name and description and hit the save button (looks like a floppy disk). Experiment with sample rate and/or mono, find the result you like best. |

I got it. What I wanted was to save as mono and that took care of all my problems. Now I'm mono mp3, 64k, 44.1, 16-bit and am a happy corporate publishing boy. Thanks. |
