hello everyone, i'm using acid music studio 5.0 (buy with vegas 6.0) and i'm using the garage band jam pack 4 for my creation, is there another package with symphonic instruments? I connect a midi keyboard and using it under acid but i want to have a better sound (like garage band does) and I can't change the sample... it's always a basic midi sound...is there something wrong...?? (sorry, I'm french, don't mention english mistakes) |

I’m not familiar with Garage Band but I looked up Jam Packs and they seem to be a combination of loops and instruments you can play. (have I got that right?) I assume Garage Band has a built-in player for those instruments. ACID has a built in DLS soft synth with a General MIDI library of sounds. It includes violins, violas, cellos, flutes, french horns, etc. You can change the setting in the DLS soft synth to get a new sound on the MIDI track by changing the MIDI channel of the track and selecting a new sound on the DLS synth for that channel. You can load more DLS sounds by purchasing them from a company like SonicImplants. Unfortunately, you’ll find the DLS synth quite limiting as the format never took off so there are not many 3rd party sounds available. If you are serious about playing your own instruments you should consider upgrading to ACID Music Studio 6 for $39.95 USD. This will allow you to add VSTi Instruments of which there lots of VSTi instruments you can buy and 100’s of free instruments including free SoundFont players that add 1000’s of new sounds to ACID. VSTi support will allow you to add instruments like Garritan Personal Orchestra and have an entire orchestra at your fingertips. ~jr |
