One tips is: You could try the option to enable snapping to a specific scale. Then at least all the notes you play will be in the right key, but knowing when to play them is an art. That’s why musicians are called artists.

With all due respect your question is like saying:

Can someone help me with adding paint to this canvas, I want to make a painting but everything I do looks like just a bunch of plats of paint!

If you are not a musician then don’t expect to be able to make music. The best advice I can give you is to take music lessons. I don’t mean this disrespectfully, but as a musician who has studied for years, I can tell you that you are not going to just walk up to an instrument and start playing it whether it’s a real piano or the piano roll editor. You really need to study music and understand what separates a bunch of notes from a musical phrase.

Adding to what JohnnyRoy said, basic music theory can be very helpful. It's all about structure.

I weaned myself on Sandy Feldstein's Practical Music Theory. It may be overkill, but the basics can help you get up and running as far as what direction to take your music in.
