OT: Wind noise on new DCR-HC90

I'm hoping someone can help me with wind noise. I just bought a Sony HC90 mini-DV camcorder after my trusty TRV11 fell in the lake. WInd noise on this thing is worse than I would expect for such an expensive camcorder, even when taping from a stationary position on a perfectly calm, windless day. Does anyone know any tricks to alleviate this, other than an external mic?

Thanks.

Bruce

Wind sock. If you don't want to use an external mic, and don't mind the odd appearance, you can try cutting up one of those foam socks and taping it over the mic.

Storyman,

I went with your lead and found a wind sock made by Rycote available at B&GH for $35 that slips over Sony camcorders. Looks like it might work.

Thanks!
