Ok I have acid 4.0f and a Korg DW8000 I want to be able to Connect my keyboard to my computer and play through Acid using the sounds that are on my keyboard. I already know how to conect through midi and I dont want to use my Korg as a controler. My Korg has some really cool sounds and If I could just run the board into my sound card and be able to hear it on my speakers and have acid be able to record what I am playing. I am not sure is this is possiable. I have a sound blaster Audigy 4 sound card. Any help would be appreciated. |

Plug the audio output of your keyboard into the line input of your sound card and record away. ~jr |

I did that I am using a step down jack from the keyboard to the computer microphone jack. I couldnt hear anything through the speakers and no luck with acid recording it. I was able to get it to record with the Sound Recorder found in windows programs but still no sound as I was playing but when I played it back I could hear. |

Does the Audigy have a pre-amp for the line-in? I believe you need a pre-amp for the keyboard. Ideally it would be keyboard->pre-amp->soundcard. Or, like me, have a soundcard with built-in pre-amps for the line-ins. (M-Audio Firewire 410). That way, you just plug your Korg into the line-in and you're set. Mario |

If you can get it to record through the Windows recorder, then you won't need a pre-amp. Is there a soft mixing console interface for the Audigy where you can set the monitoring options so you can hear what you are recording? Check your audio bus setup in the Acid preferences as well. |

> I did that I am using a step down jack from the keyboard to the computer microphone jack. If that is an accurate statement, then that is your problem. I said Line-in NOT microphone jack. Your keyboard audio outputs are line level. Then you must go into the Creative mixer and select Line-In as your recording input and turn the volume slider all the way up on the input. Then in ACID select the Line-In as the Record Device at the bottom of the Audio Record Dialog. If the keyboard is mono, select Line-In LEFT mono. ~jr |

OK I was able to get my keyboard to play through the input (blue jack) on my sound card and through my speakers. For some reason Acid isnt hearing or recording the sounds from my keyboard and when I press record in Acid I still get no sound or playback. I figure it is some kind of setting in acid. I am using 24 bit rate and the Sound Blaster Audigy 4 AISO 24/96 [E000] driver inside of Acid and tried all combinations of recording options. Left channel only Right channel only and bothe left and right with no luck. Also the Ausdio monitor never moves indicatiing no signal is getting through to acid. I enabled the analog mix in the creative suround sound mixer so it can record off the input jack (blue plug) Thanks for your advice at least I am able to hear my keyboard through my speaker. Anmy further help would be appreciated. ps. I was able to get windows sound recorder to record and play back through my speakers while I was recording. > I am using 24 bit rate and the Sound Blaster Audigy 4 AISO 24/96 [E000] driver inside of Acid Try to get it to work with the Creative ASIO driver first. I could never get 24/96 drivers to work reliably when I had an Audigy card (that’s one of the reasons I got rid of it). Use the 16bit 48KHz drivers first and see if that works. > and tried all combinations of recording options. Left channel only Right channel only and bothe left and right with no luck. Did you try the Analog Mix devices? Otherwise just the Mix L/R devices. I know there are a lot of device options on that card, you just have to try them all and see which one is the line-in. If it turns out you are serious about doing audio recording, you might consider buying a pro audio sound card like the M-Audio Audiophile 24/96, M-Audio Firewire Solo or Firewire 410, or an Echo Mia MIDI or Echo Gina 3G. ~jr |

I don't have an Audigy 4, but I have an Aduigy EX (yeah, it's older, but the principle's the same, I think)... You need to open your "Creative Mixer" application (it should be in your Creative folder in your Program Files directory on the Start menu). In the Mixer, you have to select the proper input (line in, or aux 2 or whatever) to record your Korg. The problelm isn't in Acid, it's how you have your sound card inputs configured in Windows. |

it was acid not my sound card. Anyways I got it to work with Microsoft sound mapping drivers. The creative drivers in acid are worthless. They are either not compatible or make Acid run funny. needless to say problem solved. |
