Can MS fix camera deficiencies?

Newbie question: Is there a feature in MS that will correct for deficiencies in particular cameras? For example, I have a Sony TRV480 camcorder. I've often thought the colors during playback are not as vibrant as they should be. Is there a quick way to enhance picture quality in MS given the camera a video was shot with?

Thanks!

There's nothing that has presets for specific cameras. However, the HSI filter (Hue / Saturation / Intensity) will let you add saturation and make the colors more vibrant. Use it very sparingly as it will add color to any nearly neutral areas as well making them somewhat psycadelic.

fwiw, I've seen other reports that the TRV480 colours appear washed out.

Whether or not you can improve the video is rather subjective - you can certainly change it, but as Chienworks has already said, something that looks good in one place will probably look bad somewhere else. I think the trick is to decide what's most important in each clip - do what you can to improve it and then see if it's worth paying the price. It's going to be very time consuming if you do that for every clip though, to say nothing of increasing the rendering times!

If you do a lot of outside video recording, you can use a filter on your camcorder that will enhance the colors. The filter you should use is a polarized filter. This filter will remove glare and tend to enhance colors.

I second DrGuitar's suggestion for a polarizing filter. It makes a huge difference in how water and the sky appear. HUGE!
