Hi Soundforgers,

I have installed the latest SF 8 software, when I checked which sound device it is using it says Microsoft Sound Mapper, Should I be using the Asio drivers instead? I'm not at all sure about this subject. I believe SF installs Asio drivers? Is an Asio superior driver , less latency?

Hi David, have you seen any of the other posts about the SF8.0b bugs? Here is one... http://www.sonymediasoftware.com/forums/ShowMessage.asp?MessageID=405517&Replies=19

It happened to me; I had to reinstall & reauthenticate. My drivers then "returned."

Hope this helps, and Good luck,

Thanks Sound Dog for your reply, however I do have Asio as an option to select!

OK David, sorry about that. FWIW, I use the ASIO driver; I believe it's more "professional grade" and does have less latency. But I have some confusion on the issue as well.

I found this link on the M-Audio website. It touches on some of this discussion: http://www.m-audio.com/index.php?do=support.faq&ID=bb24a1d51cae1de2c2aa79f8b2bdca62

You might try some searches for your hardware's recommendations. If you find anything useful, please post back!

Regards,
Sound Dog

O.K Sound Dog,

I'm working on my next recording with a computer guru, I'm hoping he can enlighten me a bit. Thanks for the link, I have printed it and will read. I'll let you know if I get anywhere with this.
