Subject:Recording audio with Audiophile 24/96 problem

I have a problem with recording audio from other programs. I am using the M-Audio Audiophile 24/96. I open Cubase SX2 or Reaktor 5 and then open Soundforge 8 to record what I am doing. But Sf shows a warning saying "Warning: an error occurred while opening an audio device. No devices exist." or The device specified is in use. The details says: The 'M-Audio Delta ASIO' playback device 'Analog Out 1/2 Delta-AP [1]' is in use by another application. The 'Microsoft Sound Mapper' playback device will be used instead. And in Sf device list I no longer see any M-Audio Delta Asio driver but only Microsoft Sound Mapper. I remember that I made it work when I tried a few years back but I don't know how I did it or maybe something has changed in the program since then. How will I do this? In Audiophile soundcard Hardware settings I have set the multitrack driver devices to independent Win Xp |

Hi Soarer, Sounds kind of like the same problem that others (including myself!) have been having with the 8.0b release. Is that the version you're using? If so, you'll need to remove 8.0b, reinstall and re-register. There are a couple of other threads in this forum re 8.0b bugs--that one bit me as well. BTW, I use an M-Audio 192 myself. The card (and its driver) are fine, knock on wood. Anyway, once I reinstalled, this problem went away...good luck! -Sound Dog Colorado USA |

Thanks, but no, it was not the same problem. I just went through the process of reinstalling 8.0b (That plugin scan is really annoying!) and it didn't help a bit. What I mean is that I already have asio available when I open Sf alone and it works fine but it becomes unavailable when I first open Reaktor or Cubase and then open Sf. Even Audacity works fine in this way recording from the other apps! Maybe it's not a bug... But it ought to be possible. Apart from this hopefully solvable problem Soundforge is a great nice program! You might try (in Cubase) going to Device Setup>VSTMultitrack> and check the button called "release ASIO in background". I use SE so the path in SX might be different, but you get the point. luces |

Sorry no it didn't help at all. When ticking Release asio driver in bckground, Cubase just stops playback as soon as it is minimized or when recording with Sf. Allright I'll try to email the technical support. Still strange isn't it, since Audacity records effortlessly from all other apps? |
