Hello, i'm using a midistudio-2 keyboard with USB connection with ACID. Since a little i cannot use my keyboard anymore :(. Although windows says my keyboard is connected, there's just nothing happening in the software.....my keyboard is not there. I have checked the option 'Midistudio-2' on input but nothing ...... I also tryed in Sound forge and in MidiOX ... but they don't see my keyboard either. So ... do you think my keyboard is out of order or is it something else ??? cheers, and thank you very much by advance Message last edited on9/2/2005 11:16:54 AM bycarmellose sodique. |

If the keyboard shows up under the MIDI devices it could just be that its transmitting on the wrong channel (i.e., you may have switched channels without knowing). Make sure it is using MIDI channel 1. Also make sure you have the latest USB drivers for your keyboard. It looks like this keyboard came with a copy of Cubasis. Did you try it with that software to see of it works? ~jr |

> how do i do that ? This is specific to your keyboard. You’ll need to check the user’s guide on how to assign which MIDI channel it transmits on. > i also have a little program called MIDIOX which is supposed to see my keyboard Sorry, I missed the part about using MIDIOX. Well it is possible that they keyboard has a problem. If MIDIOX sees your keyboard (i.e., in shows up in Options > MIDI Devices and you can select it as in input device) and you don’t see any active sensing data or keyboard activity in the Monitor Input window, then I’d say either your keyboard is broken OR your MIDI cable is bad. Since it’s a lot cheaper to replace a cable than a keyboard, I would try another MIDI cable first. ~jr |

Actually i don't use a midi cable .. i use the usb connection. The strange thing is that windows says the keyboard is plugged ..but midiox or ACID don't see it ! Very strange..i would tend to think the keyboard is broken although i'm not a 100% sure..and i don't want to buy a new keyboard without being 100% sure mine is broken.. OK, now I understand what’s going on. It doesn’t even show up in the MIDI preferences of ACID. I had that happen to me with my M-Audio Radium 49. It use to work and then all of a sudden, it disappeared from ACID and all other applications. I don’t know what causes this but you are not alone. I now just use the USB port for power and I have a MIDI cable plugged in to my sound card. Do you have anything else plugged into your USB ports? Now you have me thinking. This may have stopped work when I got my new HP printer which also plugs into the USB ports. You might try unplugging anything else that’s using USB on your PC and see if that helps. Basically you have to figure out what changed about your PC that made it stop working. ~jr |

All right it seems you got it right !!! .. at least i know whereit comes from now : there's a problem with the other USB connection .. for some reason when i disconnected the other plugged usb device (a usb hub) i got my keyboard back ! It's somehow strange windos detect the keyboard when the hub is plugged but doesn't get it too work. However, that should be ok now, thanks for the help man !!!!! cheers |
