Subject:How to View video in ACID?

While I'm composing in ACID 4 I'd like to be able to play the video that the music will go with in the View Video window. My video was created with Vegas 5.

Can anyone tell me how to do this ?- all my experimenting has not worked so far. thanks!

You need to open the video file as a track in Acid (just like you would a normal audio track). You'll also need to to have video ticked in the 'view' pulldown menu.

I think Acid will only recognise certain types of video file - this could be the problem. I've been successful opening .avi & quicktime versions in Acid (I have Quicktime loaded on my machine), but I've had problems with other formats.

Hope this helps.

DV .avi is probably the best choice for good quality and smooth playback.

If you have a slower computer and the video playback is making the audio skip at all, you may want to try creating a smaller "proxy" video file. Render to AVI at 160x120 pixels, 15 fps, and use something like the Cinepak codec. This should be good enough to sync to in the preview window and be almost no drain on the processor.

Thanks C - it looks like that might be the problem- I can view avi files OK, but not others.
