Subject:XP Studio and NR question

Hello,
I have Noise Reduction 2.0, Vegas 5, and Sound Forge XP Studio 5. Can't seem to see NR in XP Studio???? Do I have to upgrade to full on Sound Forge to see it there?
Thanks,
Jeff

As should be indicated in the help and on the box, Sound Forge XP Studio 5 supports only the ExpressFX plug-ins.

The latest consumer release, Sound Forge Audio Studio 8.0, includes DirectX (and VST) plug-in support.

The pro version of Sound Forge (4.0a and later) includes DirectX support. Plug-in chainer functionality was added in 6.0 and VST support in 8.0.

There are usually upgrade paths for most older versions. Check the website for details.

Hey, thanks a lot! That makes sense.

Looks like the Sound Forge Audio Studio is a pretty cheap upgrade... sounds like you are saying that WOULD work with NR2??

I might also spring for full on Sound Forge, too. For the most part, I want to use SF to scrub and optimize audio portion of my video tracks for Vegas. In your opinion, what are the advantages of going all the way to Sound Forge for this use?

Thanks,
Jeff

Yes, Sound Forge Audio Studio 8.0 will handle NR2.

Sound Forge is a handy tool to have around for a number of reasons. Rather than opine it's virtues in detail, I'll just recommend that you examine the feature comparisons between Audio Studio and Pro on the website and download the trial for the version you are interested in.

Why trust the dealer when you can take a test drive, right?
