Subject:Sonar User to verify this please?

I work with Sonar (4.0.3) and Sound Forge and have flittered happily between them since, well, forever.

However, with SF8b I have the following. When I load a file into SF from Sonar via the Tools/Sound Forge menu and then preview Effects/Pitch/Shift, I only get a second or two's-worth of audition. If I apply the pitch change, I crash SF.

This, oddly, does not appear to occur if the file has not been brought in from Sonar.
I've reverted back to 8a and the issue has gone.
My install of 8b was clean.
Would someone else like to check this before I mail Sony?
Cheers
W

Hi. I have the same version of sonar and just did a clean install of sf version 8b (after my ASIO disappeared). I tried what you posted and i was able to audition the whole file i loaded (real time preview checked). Applied the pitch shift change with no problems. closed file and saved, switched over to sonar and loaded the file, it plays fine with the pitch change.

One problem though..... in sonar highlight the track / clip that i want to edit in sf, go to tools / sound forge.... when the file opens in sound forge, sf tells me that the asio drivers are being used by another program (sonar) so it would use the ms sound mapper. i hit ok, now preferences show ms mapper as my default device type and i have to switch back to asio AFTER i have closed sonar. it did not use to do that. i could have sonar and sf up and both use asio drivers fine. hmmmm.

I have also experienced the disappearing ASIO in SF8b with Sonar 4.0.3 installed on my machine.

SF8a worked fluidly with Sonar 4.0.3.

This is Sony's problem NOT Cakewalk's.

Try Uninstalling SF8b then Reinstalling. Enter your serial# and you should be set.
