Subject:Forge 8.0a doesn't recognize Pioneer 109

When I go to burn a CD in Forge 8.0a it searches for the Pioneer 109 but doesn't find anything then it hangs and I have to CTRL-ALT-DELETE. DVDA-3.0B and Vegas 6.0B do not have this problem.

How about CD Architect (which comes with Sound Forge 8). Does that give you the same issue?

Forge 8.0b still does not recognize Pioneer 109 and Plextor CD writer. but V6.0b, DVD-A3.0b, and Acid Pro 5.0C have no problem.

Have you tried the ASPI and SPTI prefs on the General page? Are they the same as ACID, etc.?

Acid & Forge have the ASPI & SPTI settings available in the general options menu but CD Architect does not. CD Arch & Forge search the IDE and SCSI buss for drives and then freeze the application. Vegas, DVD-A, Acid, & Record Now DX, Power DVD all work fine. This is the #3 computer, P3, 1meg, 786 ram, XP Pro SP-1 with all updates except SP2. All of these installs were in the last few days. Pioneer 109 has the 157 bios.
CD Architect does not appear in the Sony setup folder or Sonic Foundry setup folder but it does in the Sony folder. I forgot to mention that Forge & CD Arch. worked fine in my other computer which was Intel 875P P4, 3.4 meg. 2 gig ram XP Pro SP1 with all updates. There was also some stuff left from V5.

Uninstalled CDA and Forge then rebooted. Installed Forge 8.0b and rebooted and activated. Cannot find drives to burn cd and "hangs" forge and must end application. Installed CDA 5.2 then rebooted and activated. Cannot find drives to burn cd and "hangs" CDA and must end application. DVD-A3.0b, V6.0b, & Acid pro 5.0c have no problem finding drives again. Deleted all setup files. What files are missing here in these two apps that can't find drives?

We are looking into this issue. But can we get some more system details from you?

Do you have any other optical drives attached? (Plextor 716A?)
Any disc in drive(s) when it hangs?
What model of motherboard do you have?

Thanks!

The drives are Pioneer 109 with 157 bios, PlextorW1210X SCSI XCD Writer with 105 bios, Pioneer DVD rom 305 SCSI, (2) Maxtor IDE 6E030L0, (1) SEAGATE ST330630A, (2) ATI VIDEO RAID SCSI,
TI 1394 host controller, 3COM 3C905B-TX, COURIER V EVERYTHING Modem, HP scanjet 3C scanner, Epson 2450 Photo scanner (firewire), Matrox G400 dual head, Supermicro P6SBU board 3.1 bios, 786 ram, P3-1 meg, Creative Live sound, MY-HD-120 High Def Tuner card with DVI daughter card, (2) 350 watt power supplies (slaved), drives are 512 allocation NTFS, Record Now DX--Sees drives OK, 3DFX, Power DVD ---sees all drives ok, Coral Draw 12, Epson print DVD , Adobe Elements, Quicken 2002, Quicktime player.
It doesn't seem to matter if there is a disc in the drive or not. It almost seems like a file is missing. Are there like files in Acid Pro that I could transfer to Forge and CDA? This one has me baffled. The equipment listed in my profile is for the movie computer which is undergoing upgrading, not this one.
The message that XP wants to send to Microsoft is:
C:\DOCUME~1\JAMESJ~1.KIZ\LOCALS~1\TEMP\WER30.tmp.dir00\Forge80.exe.mdmp
The second line is identical except fot the ending in place of Forge80.exe.mdmp
which is "appcompat.txt"
