Movies won't play on MACS or cell phones

I have recorded some very short QuickTime movie files on my Olympus digital still camera. These raw movie files play just fine on Windows, MACS and on my cell phone.

But, no matter what I try, I cannot edit these files in Vegas 6 and have them play on MACS and the cell phones. They always play on Windows, though. Even a version of Windows 98 without the SE update.

I have tried rendering in many different variations of the MPEG And MOV formats - but nothing works on MACS and cell phones - ALL of the renders work on any version of Windows that I try.

I am using the latest OS and QuickTime updates on the MAC but I always get a message that says the file is corrupt.

Please, can someone give me custom template specifications for rendering a file that will play on MACS and cell phones?

I cannot tell you specifically how to fix this but I will comment that Quicktime (MOV), like AVI, is just a container NOT a video stream format. What is important is the CODEC you use inside of it. I would recommend that you find out what codec your camera uses (since it works) and use the same one to render with. My guess would be it is using the Motion JPEG codec. (but this is just a guess)

Thanks Johnny,

The camera uses Photo JPEG - which is just one of the many options that I have tried - including Motion JPEG A & B. Once again, any of these rendered formats will play on any Windows computer I try but none of them will play on a MAC or cell phone.
