Ultimate S 2.0 is now available from VASST

The latest version of Ultimate S 2.0 is now available. We have really concentrated this release on exploiting the deeper features of Vegas 6. There are tools to import veg files into a master project and retain the markers, tools to save and trim projects with nested veg files (Vegas does not save and trim the nested project but we do), some convenience features like the ability to save pan/scan presets, improved marker manipulation, etc. You can read all about it here.

The 5 most advanced new features are:

QuadCAM: Four camera editing with custom tally indicators, real-time switching, and built-in Shuttle Pro support

Lower Thirds: A collection of 4 new graphics overlays packages called GrafPaks with animated lower thirds that you can just drop in and use or apply, push, dissolve etc. with a single push of a button. GrafPak-1 & 2 are included in Ultimate S2. GrafPak-2 Wedding and GrafPak-3 Worship are available for purchase.

Special FX: Compositing FX like Water Color Painting, Pencil Sketch, Romance Look, etc. to give an artistic quality to your videos.

Audio Mastering Plug-In: A DirectX plug-in from iZotope® custom made for VASST is included along with AudioPak-1, a package of 38 Track and Mastering presets specifically designed for voice over, mastering, and special fx.

4 New ReelPaks: There are now 5 ReelPaks in all with film looks from the past, Classic TV, and Hollywood looks. These can now be added to a track, events, or master video bus.

Ultimate S 2.0 is beyond just a scripting tool for editing convenience. It is a one-stop, multi-cam, film look, audio mastering, lower thirds, special fx tool; to not only keep you more productive, but improve the quality of your productions with the new content. No other scripting tool provides this.

The 15-day free Trial comes with sample content from GrafPak-1 & 2 and AudioPak-1. Check it out at VASST. Please read the ReadMeFirst.htm file included in the ZIP file you download. It contains important installation details concerning changes in our install procedure.

Attention Celluloid and FM users: A new free update to Celluloid is available that includes additional functionality and support for the new ReelPaks. A new free upgrade to FM is available that includes the iZotope® plug-in and AudioPak-1. (FM users contact VASST for AudioPak-1 after you have installed the new version) There is also a new update to Ultimate S 1.1 to support the new ReelPaks. Be sure to update your copy today.

Note: Because of the new Vegas 6 functionality we have exploited. This version of Ultimate S2 will only run on Vegas 6. We are working on a Vegas 5 version that should be available by August 1st.

I just got an e-mail about this and it says:

"*Some features of Ultimate S 2 are limited in Sony Vegas 5."

Which features (apart from importing nested veg's) are limited in Vegas 5? Do all the multi-cam, photo-montage and lower-thirds functions work in vegas 5?

Bugs in the ordering? or in the program - I haven't had any bugs with the plugin.

Hello geniuses of VAAST---A quick question--I downloaded Ultimate primarily for the Multi-Cam module--and it really is amazing. Only problem is I dont need the rest of the modules and was wondering if you were going to offer this as a stand alone? Anyway, great work!

> "*Some features of Ultimate S 2 are limited in Sony Vegas 5."

Here are the differences in Ultimate S2 between Vegas 5 and Vegas 6:

PhotoMontage: no difference

Editing Tools: no difference

Markers: no difference

Film Looks: no difference

Audio Tools: no difference

Visual Effects: no difference

Quad-CAM: no difference other than you can't drop markers in real-time.

Lower Thirds: These will be static in Vegas 5 (they are animated in Vegas 6). Otheriwse everything else on this tab is the same.

Special FX: Some of the FX are not possible because they use compositing which can’t be controlled via script in Vegas 5.

Audit: No Backup Nested Projects

Setup: No Import Nested Projects

That’s the extent of the differences. Buying one entitles you to the other so if you upgrade to Vegas 6 you will still have a copy of Ultimate S2 that works in Vegas 6 (and of course the Vegas 5 version will work in 6 too, it’s just the Vegas 6 version can’t work in Vegas 5)

Thanks very much! It looks very good. It's a pity you can't drop markers in realtime in Vegas 5. It should be possible because Excalibur 4 allows it.

No it doesn't, not in Vegas 5. I wasn't clear in my last post. I'm referring to running a camera change script (which drops a marker and labels it) in real-time and have the timeline continue to play (i.e., not stop). This isn't possible with Vegas 5.0 nor even possible with Vegas 6.0a. It was only introduced in Vegas 6.0b.

Of course you can drop regular markers in real-time but you have to stop the timeline to label them and make them camera changes.

let's familiarize ourselves with some linguistic nuances for a change:

VASST comes in all shapes and sizes. This 5-letter acronym is a full-spectrum of colors and sounds.

The official version: Video Audio Software Support Training

The historical variations: Video Audio Surround Streaming Training/(Tools)

The PG-13 sizzling hot version: VASS (as in: Uh La La! Check out that VASS, man. I mean it, I want a piece of that VASS)

The Scandinavian phonics/from the "rextilleon" collection: VAAST (with an extra vowel added for extra umph)

Transliteratingly,
Tai Poe

edit: PS all that sentimental musing... inspired by a truncated subject line...
Spot|DSE wrote on 7/21/2005, 2:13 PM
Ummm...all strangeness aside, you forgot the original acronym,
Vegas: Acid: Sound Forge:Support:Team
Only lived for a short year, but that was the first.
trock wrote on 7/21/2005, 2:49 PM
Hmmm...maybe we are talking about different things but with Excalibur 4 and Vegas 5 there is a mode where before you start you make one marker for each camera and number it and then thereafter while playing the timeline you can press M and have it mark the changes and label them per your original marker labels. The difference may be that I think you can only do this with 2 cameras in Excalibur and probably don't have this limitation in Ultima S/Vegas 6. I'll have to check next time I'm at the machine.

Spot,

So it all began with a fasst VAS(F)ST :-} Seems like it was just an abbreviation at that point - didn't make it to an acronym status?!

Back to the subject at hand... Very impressive US2 feature list. Congrats on all of your creative efforts, guys!
JohnnyRoy wrote on 7/21/2005, 5:43 PM
Yes, pressing the ‘M’ key works in Vegas 5 and yes this is only for two camera edits. If that’s all you need, VASST DoubleTake will do that too in Vegas 5.

Spot, you guys did it again! I cant wait to try this thing out. I am really getting it for the multicam edit and window, but there are so many things that will make my editting life easier, I am going to saver them all. Thanks for taking the time consuming tasks and putting them in one easy to use interface! The upgrade price will easily be recovered in one or 2 uses!

Not clear from the website, I'm considering making a purchase of this add-on, but just wondering how many of the reelpacks for the film-looks are included in the Ultimate S? Or do we need to purchase them separately?

Thanks!

clearvu wrote on 7/22/2005, 12:02 PM
Just purchased 2.0. Installed it on top of version 1. Everything seems to work fine, but, do we still need version 1 installed? Or can it be uninstalled now since version 2 is installed?

I notice that under, "add remove programs", the two versions are listed.

Please clarify.

Thanks

Dean,
US 2 comes with 6 FilmLooks, and when you purchase, you also get GrafPak 1, GrafPak 2, AudioPak 1, sent as a separate install.
The various ReelPak libraries are all additions to Ultimate S 2 or Celluloid. In other words, none of the ReelPaks are included with Ultimate S, they install/plug in to Ultimate S.
Spot|DSE wrote on 7/22/2005, 12:37 PM
You should only be seeing Ultimate 1 still is if you've got Vegas 5 installed. Ultimate S 2 sniffs out installs, and uninstalls any previous version as part of the install process. However, Ultimate S 1 is left in place if you've got Vegas 5 installed.

Spot:

I am curious about the GrafPaks. I downloaded and installed US v2. I think there are about 10 lower third graphics that are installed already. Are those the ones included in GrafPak 1 and 2??

I noticed you mentioned the GrafPaks are sent as a separate download. So I am not sure if what I have is everything I am supposed to have or not.

Anyway....Great product. I was using US v1 and was real happy with it. This is even BETTER!!

Thanks,

Galen
