2 Cents Needed for Dual Core X2 for Vegas

Hi .. i wanted to put this on the AMD forum but since my build will be dedicated to Video Editing using Vegas 6 , i think it belongs here.

I Bought the 4400+ X2 Processor , I have the Appropriate socket , is there anything else i should consider such as Hard Drive Specs(not storage) , Cooling And Power Suply?

the most important thing is the Video Card , i just bought a fine 32inch BenQ LCD screen with a resolution of 1366x786 and would like to get the best out of it , Recomendations much apreciated , thanks

Far out. Rumor has it that they are overclocking the 4400 X2 to the same speed as the 4800 X2 with the L2 1 meg cache. I am personally getting the Matrox APve 16x video card but don't know how it will work. It has component out at 1980 resolution. They also said the XP-64 makes it even faster.

32" is nice but the resolution isn't high enough. Are you sure that's a computer monitor and not a TV? I haven't heard of that screen, but I'm sure you'd be better off with a Dell 24" lcd or one of the many 23" lcds out there. All of these have resolutions of 1920 x 1200, which is enough for 1080p I believe. If you ever think you might want HDV or DVC Pro HD, then return the monitor you have and get one of the units I mentioned.

musman , its not realy a Monitor , more of a TV , the new BenQ DV3250 ... but am happy with it , so far i guess , are you telling me i dont need a very Powerfull Video Card?

bigsole .. lol let me tell you i have this TV on a 2.6 pentium 4 , i only have 10 GB on my D and 30 GB on the C lool , i was only able to capture 10 to 15 min of DV since i bought Vegas & learn a bit before the PC starts to go crazy , i think there is nothing to show off here , is there?

looks like the Guys on the forum are busy those days and its not as active as usual , my ignored post was up on the front page since i posted it 24h ago.

i realy just wanted some recomendations from those who have build systems based on the X2.

anyways thanks guys for replaying ..

EP: I've got the AMD 64 dual core 4800, all driven by nvidia with two DVIs out. I'm previewing to a CRT 2nd monitor via windows + Vegas 6b "preview to external monitor" button.

Going to bump the 2nd monitor to a native 16:9 with 1920 x 1080 resolution. I think the 1920 x 1080 is the most important spec. Still shopping.

Wish I had your CPU, but if you saw my HP L2335, you would wish you had it rather than the BenQ.

I'm no expert, but think all you need is a card that can handle 1920 x 1200 'natively'.
Anyway, there's a discussion of it here:
