Hi,
My OS is XP Pro. I have had to reload my system which was running AP 5a and I I did reload it, I noticed that I was having an Error message. I went on line and loaded the 5b version to find the same problem existed. The message being like an error message relating to the SQL non-existing and that I do not have the Privilege. With my system, I am the only user, and I am the Administrator. And under my documents, I do have a folder “Sony Media Libraries.”

Under my log it is as follows:

[Log Started]
2005-07-23 14:06:50,670 [1344] FATAL Sony.MediaSoftware.MediaMgr.AssemblyLoad [] - AssemblyLoad.Initialize() failed with an unhandled exception.
Exception: Sony.MediaSoftware.MediaMgr.MediaMgrException
Message: The database service failed to initialize properly (MSSQL$SONY_MEDIAMGR).
Source: Sony.MediaSoftware.MediaMgr
at Sony.MediaSoftware.MediaMgr.SqlMediaLibraryMgr..ctor(MediaMgrController controller)
at Sony.MediaSoftware.MediaMgr.MediaLibraryMgrFactory.CreateSingleton(MediaMgrController controller)
at Sony.MediaSoftware.MediaMgr.MediaMgrController..ctor(Int32 hostAppID, Boolean resetConfig)
at Sony.MediaSoftware.MediaMgr.AssemblyLoad.Initialize(Int32 hostAppID, Boolean resetConfig, Int32 userLCID)

Please let me know what I can do to correct this problem.

Thank You,

Erich

It appears that MSDE did not install properly on your PC. Does your "add or remove programs" list contain an entry for "Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine (SONY_MEDIAMGR)"?

Our tech support group can help figure out why MSDE may not be installing by using an alternative way of installing it with the proper configuration options that also gathers a verbose installation log. ACID Pro 5.0 includes a gold support plan which has 60 days of toll free telephone support - might be the fastest way to resolution for you:

Otherwise you could try this:

1. Uninstall Sony Media Manager 2.0 if it is listed in add or remove programs
2. Uninstall Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine (SONY_MEDIAMGR) if it is listed in add or remove programs
3. Completely delete the C:\Program Files\Sony\Shared Plug-Ins\Media Manager\MSSQL$SONY_MEDIAMGR directory if it exists.
4. Reboot
5. Shutdown as many apps as you can (esp. system tray stuff). The MSDE installer can end up hanging if certain types of apps are running.
6. Run C:\Program Files\Sony Setup\ACID Pro 5.0\mediamgr\Setup.exe
