I recently purchased Acid Pro 4.0. I'm new to this. I need to know how i can select synths and other things that come with the origional software so i can start to make my own tracks? I cant get anything into tracks. Can you please give me some insight into this. Thank you!

I suggest that you read the Help file, or check out the tutorials on the Sony site. Acid is about as easy as software gets, so you are expecting a bit much if you want people to spoon-feed you. There are heaps of loops on the Acid CD, so start making music with a few of these, and post a real question here if you get stuck :)

PS did you try the demo song that comes with Acid? It usually loads automatically after you install the application.

ACID Pro 4.0 only comes with one DLS Soft Synth that has the standard General MIDI sounds. For composing with loops, drag the loop into the track area and a track will appear. Then “paint” the track where you wan the loop to play. Most beginners don’t realize you have to draw or paint where you want to here the loop.

Jeffrey Fisher has a nice getting started article. I’ve got some ACID tips on my web site along with a page on VST instruments both free and retail that you can use in ACID 4 and 5. Iacobus and I have also written a book called Instant ACID that will guide you through getting started to advanced techniques.
