"Open Copy in Sound Forge" bug

Chakra5films wrote on 7/11/2005, 2:09 PM
Hey Guys -

When in Vegas 6.0b, the "Open Copy in Sound Forge" returns an error message that there is not enough memory - trying closing other prgrams, blah blah . This is inaccurate - as it is the only program running and I have 2GB of ram. The Open in Sound Forge (not oen copy) feature does work, as well as the Open Copy feature working in Vegas 5.0

I have tried reinstalling Vegas 6, to no avail.

Anybody heard of this bug, or have any solutions or ideas?

Thanks

What version of Forge do you have, how large is the clip you are trying to open, What version of Vegas?

hi - thanks for the reply.

Vegas 6.0b
ten second clip (does this with any clip though)
And Sound Forge 8a

Sound Forge will open fine if I choose "Open in Sound Forge" instead Open Copy in Sound Forge"

I'm using Vegas 6.0b and Sound Forge 7, and use that feature quite a bit with no problems. Interesting.

Yeah, and the thing is I can use the feature fine in Vegas 5. It's kind of a cool feature to have - to edit a copy in SF and then have it immediately replaced in Vegas when you save it - so it's a bummer.

I am running Vegas 6b and Sound Forge 8a. I have no problems opening a copy in Sound Forge. It automatically saves back to Vegas as a take. I am running Win 2K with 1 G of memory on 2.4 P4.

I just tested again and it worked like a champ.

Are you by any chance running WinXP, maybe this is some screwball permissions issue?

Ok, I am having this same problem with Vegas 6 and SF8...and the weird thing is that it doesn't happen with every audio clip apprently: some will open as a copy; others only open as "open"...

I've looked around the knowledge base, used the seach engine etc and so far have not come up with an explanation.

And what really gets me is that with V5 and SF Studio it worked like a charm...

There must be a logical explantion....perhaps to do with firewire drives? dunno...anyone hav a solution?

Thanks in advance,

Paul.

If the drive that Forge opens to is full it won't open. If the file is large it takes a lot of time to open and set peaks. If your memory is low it will not open.

I have the same problem periodically. I've had it with SF 6 & SF7 and V5 & V6. I have 2 gigs of ram and a P4 3.0.

Seems to have no ryhme or reason
