Subject:rerouting effects after re-install. possible?

Hi everyone -

I had to re-install my OS and audio apps a short while ago and now that I have to revisit some of my ACD files, the projects can't seem to hook up to a good handful wrapped VST effects that I know are installed. The project originally may have used a VST on a track and now when I Ioad up the work file, it says the effect is missing.

I suppose this could have something to do with the registry recognizing these wrapped VSTs differently now, but I wonder if there is a way I can swap out or update the file on load. Otherwise I not only lose the effect in the ACD file but I also lose the saved parameters the effect was using.

Understand that ACID still recognizes the effect itself when looking through the A-Z list of installed DX and VSTs/VSTis. It seems to just have a problem distinguishing the old installed wrap over the new one (I guess ... and really - it's a guess). Has anyone encountered this? Is there a workaround? I'm looking at this problem and am just wishing a "Relink" or "Update File" button were handy so there would be some manual control over the file right out of the gate.

Hoping ...

I'm not much help here as I don't use VST wrappers myself. Anyone?

: bump :

Actually - the problem is a little different. I assumed that the wrapper was still running but I was mistaken. Once Acid 5 started native VST support, I omitted my wrapper install when the system was cleaned up. So actually - the problem lies in the fact that the effects were once wrapped. Now the file doesn't recognize the native supported version of the same effect. I suppose it's still the same question though: how can I update a file manually on open. I would need to update a "missing" effect and its settings / parameters to the "replacement" effect (even though it's the same plug-in).
