When I try to edit audio?? no, seriously...it's pathetic...why the hell did I buy soundforge if all I get is a funky extra-terrestial message when I do something to the audio...I mean, I'm sure all close encounters would love this sssssssssounnd...but it's pathetic! Where do these musical peaks come from??

Seriously...hw do I get rid of it??

Maybe the Soundforge forum would be a good place to ask. Call it a hunch.

First... I recommend you calm down... and then... maybe you could take another stab at trying to describe what your problem is.. this time in a way that makes some sense.

Seriiously... just who do you think would have a clue what your problem is actually all about?

Any chance you're hearing voices as well?

Just a guess... perhaps you're attempting to use a plug-in that needs to be registered first. I think Sonic Foundry use to set their demos up so they would 'beep" every few seconds.

I once had a similar problem but it was with my roller skates. Turned out they just need some oil.

Actually, it's not an "F" but more like a B or C.... :-) If I remember right, it's a 1KHz tone.
What you're hearing is the demo beep. Once you've registred/installed whatever plug you're trying to use, or version you're working with, this will go away.

Ok, thanks Spot and everyone for the pointer to the registry thing...Beats me why there's no warning signal (excuse the irony) to tell you what you have to do, especially since at one stage the pc would not let me open the sound file as a copy in Sound Forge and consequently I now have a definite sound file with these quaint beeping sounds every few seconds. I guess I'll have to re-capture this piece of footage...

ok, so next question is....wait for it...which are the plugs in SF which need registering/bying (SF8 here)?

And yes...it was a great 2 hours I spent last night effing around with this problem thank you very much...

Probably a Noise Reduction or MP3, but I couldn't be sure.

try looking at all the plug ins you have enabled. Like Spot says, most likely it will be Noise Reduction. You will see a message in text on the plug-in that isn't registered (i think in green)
