Subject:Problem with the "reverse" feature in ACID

I'm using acid pro 5.0b, and I just recently started having trouble with the "reverse" effect: For a beatmapped track I have, when I reverse it, it would only play about a second of the audio, then it would go mute. I played around with the track properties, changing it from a beatmapped track to a one-shot. Now the whole audio sample played. Problem now is, it doesn't sync up with the rest of the song (different tempo and pitch,) I changed it back to beatmapped, with the sample still painted and reversed, and now the whole sample plays, and in tempo and key? Is this a bug? I think so. |

You’re right. I just recreated it. Beatmapped tracks don’t play in reverse for very long before they go silent. Looks like a bug to me. ~jr |

don't have that problem at all. As I have been typing this (going on 3 minutes now ) I have been playing a beatmapped track in reverse with no problems. (Running 5.0b) |

Hyperflash, you "must have the magic touch then." There's a couple fanboys that hang out in this forum, and it's funny to watch, when they can reproduce the bug and you see, "Hey it's a bug!!!" Then when they can't reproduce the bug, then they say "there's nothing wrong with Acid, it works fine for me, you obviously don't know anything about computers, you better check your system. Obviously a couple geniouses at work here, makes me want to run right out and buy a book about how to use Acid written by the same two smart guys. |

"Obviously a couple geniouses at work here" Last time I checked I was spelling it as 'geniuses'. I may not be the gifted brilliant mastermind....damn where is that thesaurus. If you are going to try and cut someone down, for the love of god, at least check your spelling. You too can look like one of those geniuses instead of a geniouses. Oh yea, I can duplicate the problem also. |

Trying to repro here, but cannot seem to do so. Is everyone comparing system specs? Been looking at the various setups and I don't see a common denominator. (Could anyone who hasn't filled out their system specs please do so? Use the "Forum Settings" link in the upper right, then click on, "System Information," on the right.) I'm using an Echo MiaMIDI for audio and a Radeon 9200 AGP 8x for video. Is anyone else running any programs in the background? If so, what are they? I'm running Windows XP Pro, Service pack 2, on a Dell Inspiron 5150 with 60 GB HD, 512 megs of ram, 3.2 Ghz Pentium processor with HTT (thank goodness, too, I heard that Acid takes advantage of this feature.) The only programs I run in the background are IE, maybe soundforge once in a while, but not in this instance. |

Oh yeah, and I have this problem with the files that I got for the NIN remix of "Only". I might have had this problem with other beatmapped files as well but I wouldn't know (the only times I've used the reverse feature is on one-shots). I'm gonna see if I can find another beatmapped track, and reverse it, but from what you guys wrote it seems to be true for other beatmapped tracks as well... unless you all are using the NIN files... Thanks for the replys, by the way. |

I found that if you zoom in on the timeline to about a measure, it works. So zoomed out to full project it only plays for a second. Zoom in to a measure, it will play the entire song (but it skips when the timeline scrolls right) Can anyone else repro this behavior? ~jr |

Yes, I found that the NIN remix (nin_origacidproject.zip), which has all beatmapped files and is in ACID Express file does not reverse correctly when opened, in ACID Pro 5b. The audio is muted. I did try using the reverse on an older project I created in 5.0a and the beatmapped files played back correctly, when reversed. I also just recorded a new beatmapped audio track and the reverse feature worked as expected. Could it be that since the nin_origacidproject.zip file was created for ACID Express (probably created with it too), has something to do with it. BTW, I find the nincomplete.zip project much better to work with, in ACID Pro 5. The entire project is already cut up into well organized acidized loops( 122 of them) and tracks (60). Once I put them into their relevant folder tracks (vocals, drums, percussion, bass, guitar etc..), it made it real easy to wotk with. I must say it is a real treat to remix a NiN song, that has been already cut up and acidized and see how it was actually put together. The nin_origacidproject, is an ACID Express file and except for the bass and drums tracks, is made up entirely, of beatmapped files. The nincomplete project is entirely acid loop based, from those same tracks. All the hard work (making acidized loops) is already done. Much easier to work with, imo. I didn't know there was another pack you could get?? I was wondering why they would only make it available in the Acid Express format, and the files did seem a bit processed and combined already. I'll have to check it out. |

Probably because ACID Xpress is free and allows anyone to participate. There are two files that you can download: The ACID Music Studio project file: is a complete, 60 track replication of "Only" in its entirety, and will show you exactly how the track is put together from start to finish. (the first thing I did, since I am using ACID Pro 5, was to create Folder Tracks, for all of the the relevant loops: Drums, Bass, Percussion, Lead Vocal, BG Vocal, Guitar, etc., and then I created a Bus for each Folder Track's loops and then saved it as a new ACID Pro 5 embedded .zip file. This allows for easy Stem Mixing and other routing possibilities later on.) The ACID XPress project file: is a basic 10 track version of the intro and first verse, and is provided for anyone using the FREE ACID XPress 5.0 software.
