Can you produce a DVD+R dual layer disc with DVDA1? If not, do I have to purchase Vegas 6 to upgrade to DVDA3 for dual layered recording? For my purposes Vegas 4 is just fine.
You don't need to upgrade if you don't want too. Author your project as you would normally with DVDA1 and purchase a copy of CopytoDVD (significantly cheaper than upgrading to Vegas 6). www.vso-software.com
CopyToDVD should be able to insert the layer break at the correct point when burning the DL media. Better yet, they have a fully functional 30 day trial - so just download the trial and make sure it works.
Actually, there's so many improvements between DVDA1 and DVDA3 that you probably need to upgrade anyway. There's a ton of new power available in DVDA3. (not to mention all the improvements made in Vegas 5 and 6)
Agreed! I've been using DVD-A since its initial release. With the exception of the AC3 DVD-A1 is very weak. DVD-A2's end actions enabled me to retire Sonic ReelDVD and version 3's PSD and DLT compatibilty eliminated Adobe Encore from my workflow.
