Vegas: Passthrough via Pinnacle card question

Hi,
My video capture card is 'Pinnacle studio plus' card with D/A - A/D converter.
It has also a breakout box with analogue RCA video in and out.

So I thought that this would help skip the, 'camera firewire passthrough process'

But when external monitor option (In vegas) is enabled no video seems to passthrough to my tv.

The card works with pinnacle studio (which came with the card)
I can playback any avi's from the Pinnacle timeline to TV.

Also firewire to camera to TV seem to work.

But I dont like involving my camera all the time just to external preview.

Does any one use D/A converter instead of fire-wire passthrough via camera to extrenal preview?

And maybe know why my set-up is not working?

Your setup is not working because Pinnacle doesn’t want it to work. The Pinnacle AV cards are proprietary and only work with Pinnacle’s software. I would sell it on eBay and get an ADS Pyro A/V Link or Canopus ADVC-110. These boxes will capture and output analog to DV and back from ANY software that supports DV capture and output. I had a Pinnacle Deluxe card and now I use the ADS A/V Link. Best thing I ever did.

Thanks JohnnyRoy , I was afraid of this. Yes my card is also the 'Delux' version.

I am going to chek the Canopus.

We have several Canopus boxes; they work great! Wonderfully cheap alternative to using a 20K CAD DSR 2000a just for NTSC monitor playback! Get the one John suggests because the cheaper model doesn't have locked audio, a real horror show when taking analog into your PC via 1394.

That’s because the Studio 7 software was so buggy, that it couldn’t capture DV with audio sync from their own Deluxe card. So Pinnacle gave Andreas the specs to how the card captured and he put support for it in Scenalyzer. Then when customers complained about sync problems on the Pinnacle forums, Pinnacle actually told customers to go buy Scenalyzer! (I was there, I know) Imagine that, you buy a product from a company that doesn’t work, and then tell you that you need to buy someone else’s software (for more money!) to make their product work.

It is NOT because Andreas didn’t ask. He DID! Pinnacle REFUSED to give him the specs for playback. That’s why I politely said that "Pinnacle doesn’t want it to work". The truth is that Pinnacle used Scenalyzer to get customers off their back about their own buggy product. Otherwise Scenalyzer wouldn’t work either.

Like I said, sell the Pinnacle card on eBay and move on.
