Losing your home to a public use such as a road is what eminent domain was intended to address.

This current flap is about the taking of private property from an individual to sell it to another private owner in the hope of getting more taxes from it. I recall in 8th grade civics class that the right to private ownership of property was a hallmark of democracies.

Oh Well - time to move to Montana and buiild a tarpaper shack.

My oh my, how much would it suck to own prime beachfront property only to have some moron with more cash take it from you. I think they should have included in their decision that the property owner should be entitled to two times the going price for the property. At least it would make sense on how bad the theif wants the property. Instead, someone with a ton of cash can buy up all they want and then turn around and sell it for more.

America....shouldnt surprise us since this country was founded because we didnt want to give our money to Britain. Selfish, greedy, and uncompassionate. The land of opportunities...for those that can afford them.
