Jason Abbot wrote it, we just host it.
There are a few new techniques now too, that you can do with Bezier Masks. We just haven't written a tutorial on it yet.

Hi Spot,

Well there there is a little problem here , the veg file posted by John refer to media that I obviously don't have.

Unless I am missing something that veg file can't show anythin withou the media(s) that it originally refer to

Any ideas ?

Thanks

Phil

Phil,

I had the same problem and posted a note on VASST two weeks ago; no response. I don't see how a Veg file can be called a tutorial. If it has the resources necessary, I can usually backwards engineer the effect by dissecting the Veg file, but this one just shows up as a bunch of "Media Offline" events on my timeline.

It would appear that the author of the article has moved his website, as the resource is no longer there. I've contacted the author, we'll be scraping the resource into our site so that you don't have to search for them.
Hopefully we'll have it in there in the next day or so.
With the roughly 2000 resources there, it's hard to daily track each one, but the veg in question was last downloaded successfully on 5/22/05, so it's been available fairly recently.

Pking ,

I tried to "backward engineer" too but since I am no engineer to start with it got me nowhere HIHIHI :)

Spot ,

I am not complaining here , I really appreciate the time you took to contact John , if this veg file can help me achieve the signature look that would save me a humongous amount of time so all I can say is thanks

I will check that page from time to time but if you happen to know when the files are back up before I do please let me know in this thread.

I am out of the office for a few days of training, so not able to keep up like usual. The tutorial with some supporting files is here: http://webott.com/tutorial/handwriting/. I'll open the .veg and get back to you with anything else it wants. I won't have an opportunity to be online again until this evening.

Thank you very much for your quick reply Jason , I will take a look at your page and give you any further feedback on this thread

Have a good one :)

Well Jason , looks like I will need a photoshop tutorial HIHIHI :)

I try to make it work since this afternoon to no vail.

I did however try the bezier function in Vegas and it is quite easy , outlining the letters with points and then remove them segments by segments. Just have to key frame it every 5-6 segments otherwise it will take them out all at once.

One thing that puzzles me (if you read this Spot , you will porbably know what I am talking about) is the while outlining the letter with bezier points two path crosses thus voiding the effect , is there a way to cancel that side effect , otherwise I will to create to paths.

Thanks

Phil

This effect is one of the tutorials on the Vegas 5.0 cd

Ok so Spot and others who helped me here it is :

http://possibilityx.com/video%20files/signature7-1.wmv

Took me two long days to figure out the bezier stuff (my first attempt) and after a LOT of trials and errors here it is. there is a few rough spots but considering this is a first it is still pretty good

Let me know what you think and also if the file pays correctly

Thanks to John for the webspace :)

See ya
