Faulting module sfdlssynth.dll -ACID Product Family

Subject:Faulting module sfdlssynth.dll Posted by: klausbert Date:6/19/2005 3:59:48 PM Hi guys, been using Music Studio 5 for a year on a W2K3 platform. Now it crashes when loading, event viewer sez: Faulting application acid50.exe, version 5.0.0.152, faulting module sfdlssynth.dll, version 1.0.0.438, fault address 0x00003dd0. I tried reinstalling (ver.5.0), updating (ver.5.0a downloaded), uninstalling and reinstalling (5.0a) but to no avail. Renaming sfdlssynth.dll allowed the app to start but can't open previous projects (crashes again). None of them uses MIDI or soft synth. Just plain loops. Last major upgrade to the system was W2K3 SP1 this month, so this is prime suspect. Thanx for any help!

It's not listed as an OS requirement for ACID (only Windows XP Home and Pro, Windows 2000 are listed). Still, if you got it to work for a year until you installed Service Pack 1, it could be the culprit. When you uninstall, do you make sure you delete any leftover folder residue? One of the updates was DirectX 9.0c. I read somewhere else that DivX might interfere w/ACID 5, don't know the extent or scope of this. Regards Klaus

I have XP Home SP2 with DirectX 9.0c and have no problems. (I'm using ACID Pro 5.0b.) I don't know about DivX but I don't have it installed either. (I checked it out once awhile ago.)

Maybe something is running that ACID doesn't like? Have you checked out this KB article? It details on how to shut down everything else other than what you need.
