Subject:Batch convertor

When I bought my SF program a few years ago there was a card in the owners manual that said I was entitled to a free batch convertor.

I emailed SF and never got a response. This was not the first no response I had gotten from them.

So, how about it. How do I get my free batch convertor?

What about SF answering emails these days?

Thanx
Scott

You can download the Batch Converter from http://mediasoftware.sonypictures.com/download/step2.asp?DID=339

If I recall correctly you'll need to use the serial number from your version of Sound Forge to register it.

Plus, batch converting will be built-into SF8 via the new scripting abilities.

Owners of SF7 only cannot do this; you need a SF5 or SF6 serial number.

Thanx for the input. I'm going to see if I can download it now.

Scott,

They'll get back to you in a day or two. I've contacted them a lot of times recently and always got a quick response. Are you sure you weren't sending your emails to support@sonicfoundry.com or something? Those are the old days, as they are written in your Sound Forge 5.0 documentation. Go to www.custcenter.com to see Sony's support portal, way better than the old way SoFo did things. I can log into My Account and see a running history of every interaction I've had with this company now, which is saying a lot. If you are having a hardware conflict with an older version they will probably see if the new version works for you and work out an upgrade with you that makes sense to both of you.

Is it possible to use the Batch Converter in SF8 standalone like we were able to use the Batch Converter 5?

Any improvements in the new Batch Converter?

Thanks.

The SF8 batch convertor requires SF8 in order to run. SF8 is actually doing all the work.

No. Batch converter is no longer a standalone program. It is a set of scripts that run inside of Sound Forge, using Sound Forge's functions to do the conversion. It's now kinda like having extra attachments for your vacuum cleaner. They're nice and handy, but without the vacuum cleaner they don't do anything.
