I have Acid Pro 3 and was considering upgrading to 5.0. One thing that bothers me is how long it takes to load.Is it because of Media Manager, and can it be disabled?
Also if you import a standard midi file how do you seperate the tracks?
If running in Rewire slave mode do vsti's work?
thanks

Yes, you can disable the media manager (I have). It loads just as fast as 3.0 if you do.

As jumbuk said, use Options > Preferences... > General tab then uncheck Enable Media Manager (requires ACID restart) (third from bottom) and the Media Manager will no longer load. (and ACID starts faster)

Use the FREE OPT plug-in called StolenTrack. There is a Stolen Track tutorial on my web site that shows you how.

Yes, almost everything in ACID works the same. It’s just that it’s locked to the host applications tempo map and it sends its output to the host applications bus. Other than that you can use VST’s and most effects. Some effects that cause a delay in processing will be disabled in ReWire mode.

Hey JR,
I was checking out your Stolen Track tutorial, and I must say, your website, (which I've now bookmarked, for future reference), is very well done and contains a wealth of great info and tutorials. An excellent resource, for ACID & Vegas fans alike. I would encourage all ACID users, if you have not already, to download the free GenieSys OPT plugins. They work great, as add on editors, in ACID Pro. You can get them, from the link on JR's ACID webpage:

Also, I followed the Ultimate S link, from your website, to the VASST site and noticed that there was a 1.1.9 update available. I was still using the older 1.1a version. Was there ever an update email sent out to registered users? Maybe I missed it. Anyhow, I got it now and have it installed.

Cheers,

Billy Buck

thanks for the tip on disabling the media manager. i'd never used it, and wondered why it took so long for acid 5.0 to load. now it loads nice and quick.
