Subject:Question on Toshiba laptop with Sound Forge 6

I am considering getting this Toshiba laptop.

I primarily want to use it for sheet music display when I play out on my Yamaha Tyros arranger keyboard which sounds like an entire band.

I would also like to be able to record myself live using Sound Forge at 16 bits.

I understand some musicians also use their laptops to play mp3's, to play/record midi files and for use with Vsti's. I may or may not use it for these purposes. I don't have the interest now, but that's not saying that I won't in the future as I learn more about it.

I am wondering if any of you techs can advise me if this Toshiba will be ok for my purposes.

Here is a link to my web site if you want to hear what it is I am going to be recording live:

I would steer clear of Celerons when recording/editing audio or video.

I agree. I have a Toshiba Satellite 1.8 Celeron laptop and had to raise it off the table 2" when doing a recording session in early May becasue otherwise it crapped out after about 90 minutes. Someone told me Celeron chips are Pentiums that failed Q&A inspection but more likely they are just a cheap chip that runs incredibly hot. During hot weather (30+C or greater) our Celeron laptop screws up even when resting on cassette cases. My next laptop will be a real Pentium or an AMD Athalon!
