Missing CD drives

Is there anyone else out here that can not see their CD drives in the new batch of Sony sofware? (Vegas 6b, CDA5.2, SF8a)?
The drives work perfectly for Nero and WPM.

More specifically I think this is related to having a PC with an nforce chipset. Sony has reported problems with this chipset, and as far as I can tell there is no "firm" fix.

I have updated all drivers, selected ASPI as the read/burn method and still no dice. Thanks in advance for any suggestions...

Yes. I have a Dell System that does this. However, I found a way to fool it back into finding the drives. I put a playable DVD or CD into the drive, open Windows Media Player, and it finds the disk. After that I can access it again from My Computer, inside Vegas, etc.

I have two other, newer Dell systems which do not exhibit this problem. I do not know what chipset is on each of them.

See if that works for you.

I actually have a different issue. I can see my drives from every application EXCEPT for Sony apps. My drives are accessable from "My Computer" and from other apps (like Nero).

It's curious that this issue has suddenly popped up.

All of my drives (3) appear normal in Sony apps. But yesterday, suddenly one of my drives would not "see" a CD. It appears only as a DVD drive in Nero and Explorer.

I usually can burn 3 to 5 DVD and CD discs at a time (using two additional external drives also). It's definately computer related since I've swapped cables and drives, only to have the problem remain on the G: drive letter.

Advice anyone?
