I have noted what the good Forum Administrater has advised about the failure for a lot of us the get any version of ACID5.0 working on our PCs.

Unfortunately, for me none of what has been suggested works for me. One difference I do note however. When I install ACID 5.0 nomater what version, I no not get created SQL Microsoft engine(SONY_MEDIAMGR) At least it does not appear in the Windows ADD and Remove Software viewer. I am a relatively new user of this product. However, it seems to me that one the download which I have now done threee times, ie with 5.0, 5.0a and 5.0b that something is just not getting to my machine. Yes, I have tried disabling Norton when I have done the install. That obviously has made no difference. Should I try another download from SONY with norton turned on?

I have a Pentium IV 3.4 ghz with 2gig of Ram and 400 gig of Hard disk.

How do I get the illusive program onto my Machine? I look forward to hearing from anyone with ideas on this problem.

This is always a hard one to debug. What is the error message that you’re getting?

Just last week I formatted my C: drive, did a fresh installation of Windows XP and loaded back all my applications and ACID Pro 5 installed just fine. (I also don’t use any Norton software anymore. It has been the cause of too many problems) I’m not saying that formatting your C: drive is the solution (I did it because my PC would randomly blue-screen while capturing video) but there is definitely something about your PC that is keeping the SQL Engine from installing. Figuring out what that is may be next to impossible. (Don’t blame Sony, blame Microsoft, it’s their component).

If you’ve tried everything mentioned here already, perhaps you should call Sony tech support and have them work with you on the phone. This might be the easiest way to get the issue resolved.

Please contact technical support. They can provide you with a process to get a very detailed log of the installation process for the SQL desktop engine. Then by examining the log, we can suggest workarounds that may get this running correctly on your PC.
