Subject:Sony - Emu detente update?

I saw the following post on the "unofficial emu" forums dated 05/09/05. I was a bit disappointed because I was patiently hoping that the updated Emu drivers (now scheduled for June '05) would finally resolve my issues with Sony apps and Emu hardware/software. It looks like I am going to be disppointed - again. I want to be nice and friendly and all that but really - when is this issue going to be resolved? I first posted a question in these forums about this issue back in October 2004. Emu in other posts essentially say it is Sony's fault for not supporting Emu's cutting edge ASIO 2."zero to oblivion" drivers. I think Emu is full of it but really I am just a dumb customer of both companies so what do I know? Could I get a little more details on why this problem lingers on? I mean maybe I could understand if you said this problem is the equivalent of sending a man to the moon or it will cause software regression testing that will take from now to the beginning of the 22nd century. Again, I want to be all nice and cuddly but it strains credulity that it takes 7 to 8 months to fix a driver problem? Again, trying to be all smiles and very cheery I just can't take it seriously that this is much of a priority with Sony considering the time that has elapsed? Again, I just want to be your friend!

Will there be any changes in these drivers with relation to inter-acting with Sony media products such as ACID 5?
***We are currently still in discussions with Sony on best approach to solve the incompatibility issues. So unfortunately this will not be included in the upcoming Driver Update.

Best,

If cutting edge means that EMU went outside the ASIO 2 spec, then its really EMU’s problem isn’t it. Especially since the reply you got from them was that they are still discussing with Sony how to handle it. I’m sure if this was a bug on Sony’s part they would just fix it and be done. The fact that EMU is involved says to me that they are in causing the incompatibilities and don’t know what to do about it.

My advice: get rid of the EMU card, buy a card from M-Audio, Echo, PreSonus, RME, etc. and get on with making some music. IMHO, it would be foolish to keep waiting and hoping for a fix when so many pro sounds cards simply work. The EMU card isn’t worth the aggravation. But that’s just my opinion.

We have made several improvements to better support the E-MU cards for the forthcoming update.

E-Mu / Ensoniq appears to be a good hardware brand, I mean back in the old days. I'm a bit disappointed by this customer's report thought.

Anyway, Mister F. Admin (is that german ? ^^) brang us good news. Thanx !
