I installed SF8 without uninstalling SF7. A few weeks later I uninstalled SF7. I soon discovered that the Volume and Pan Envelopes could not be invoked. When I used the shortcut keys ''V' or 'P' to invoke the envelopes I would instead get a dialog box stating: "Plug-ins 'Sound Forge Volume' (or Pan) failed to load. Make sure this plug-in is installed properly." I reinstalled SF8 thinking the uninstall of SF7 removed the plugins. This did not solve the problem. Therefore, I reinstalled SF7. This solved the problem. I can now invoke the Volume and Pan envelopes. Not wanting to have SF7 installed, I deleted all SF7 files EXCEPT the DLLs. Consequently, I still have the Volume and Pan functionality. Question: How can I get the Volume and Pan Envelopes to work properly (get invoked) without having the SF7 DLLs located in the installed SF7 folder? |

Rather than simply reinstalling Sound Forge 8, try uninstalling then reinstalling it. That should fix things. Thanks. |

Thank you. That did the trick. I uninstalled SF7 and SF8 (in that order) and then reinstalled SF8. I had hesitated to do this because I would lose my customizations of the SF environment. But, this fixed the problem and I re-customized my SF environment. Thanks again. |

I have a similar problem except with SF9. Previously I had SF Studio 7 installed on my machine. I uninstalled it before installing SF9 and now I, too, cannot get Volume or Pan Envelopes. I get the same error message reported above. I tried uninstalling SF9 and reinstalling it but it didn't help. I also have Vegas 7, Acid Pro 6, DVDA 4 and the other apps that come with SF 9. Sony support suggests uninstalling all Sony apps including SQL, cleaning the registry of all Sony references then reinstalling. They say if that doesn't fix the problem it isn't their software. I don't buy this as there is clearly an install order problem here. Something similar happened to the Vegas audio plugins going from V5 to V6 (or V4 to V5, I can't recall which). I asked them for info on which DLLs are involved so I could try to install and register them manually but they are unable to provide that info. Any suggestions on what to do to get my Enveloeps back?
