I need to sync AP5 to an external sequencer .Problem is Acid will not slave to midi clock and my external only transmitts midi clock ... I really need the sequencer to be master so,is there a piece of hardware or software that will convert midi clock to mtc so i can finally hit the play button on my sequencer and have Acid startin too ? Thnx a lot :-) PS: i tried searchin the web for midi clock to mtc converter but had no luck and also searched the forum but didnt find anything close but paradigms of slavin external gear to Acid-any help u can give me is apreciatted -cheers Message last edited on5/5/2005 8:24:04 PM bytascolas. |

I don't know of any converter that would do what you want. Sorry. ACID can be triggered via MTC rather than MIDI Clock. Can your external sequencer generate MTC? (Similarly, can your external sequencer also be triggered via MTC? ACID likes to be the master in any sync situation.) thnx for a lot for answering - my situation implies the external sequencer to be the master and it doesnt transmit MTC - i can ''trigger'' acid's mtc if i put a middle app that accepts mid clock and sends mtc - but i would prefer a one to one solution -recources are needed -and i wouldnt slave another pc or use something like midi over lan or midi yoke to make apps talk midi between them on the same machine. Thnx a lot anyway :-) Quest continues ...cheers PS: midi over lan is an excellent small piece of soft -if only it could do this trick .. :-) |

Why,exactly,do you need your sequencer to be the master? Can you save standard .mid files on your sequencer? If so, maybe you could /would/should consider saving your sequence as a .mid file, importing into AP5, and then route your midi out from AP5 to the appropriate synths. Just a thought, but until I can better understand WHY the sequencer NEEDS to be the master this is all I can offer. luces |

Thnx for the concern - to reply to your question - i need to make midi on my roland sequencer and loop sequencing in my pc.I make the whole midi arrangement on the sequencer and add /chop/adjust loops and vocals on Acid. Also i slave the comp to the sequencer and use it as a big synth/drum sampler module a lot of times.Thats why the sequencer has to be the master. Its just so easier workin with patterns when remixin and its what i do mostly . Auto quantize at a pre-set value and the ability to quickly erase any note while the midi pattern is loopin in rec mode is just unbeatable imo . I really miss these features from Acid - i ve always thought that they would be somehow implemented since Acid is on a similar path with audio loops but to my surprise it has not . U might think about me ''u cant teach an old dog new tricks'' - but the case here is a bit different. Its just not good when u are midi programmin' and have a flow in your head to stop this and do boring quantizations and open piano roll to erase specific notes. It just brakes the creative flow and litterally doesnt let me make music as i would.I know its a personal thing but if u ask remixers especially older ones will tell u the same thing i suppose :-)) So to sum it all i havent been able to find any midi clock to mtc converter .I knew this already though ,as the midi clock signal is just too simple opposed to mtc. I just thought there is a chance hehe. Looks like i m gonna put some hard work and get a new Roland MV8000 or an Akai mpc4000 that both transmit mtc . Thnx a lot all :-)) cheers Message last edited on5/15/2005 4:59:24 PM bytascolas. |
