I posted a bit earlier about a project I have that won't load. I got so frustrated I wiped & reformatted my HD, reloaded all of my software (and anyone reading this knows what a pain that is). I've reapplied my patches etc. ACID 5.0a worked normally for exactly 2 days. Now it won't load the project again. I'm at my wits end. I've renamed the VST directory thinking that maybe an errant VST/VSTi is causing problems - nope. I've tried the .acd-bak file - nope. I've spent untold hours on this project and now I can't load it. The progress dialog opens up and goes to 99% then usually goes away, I can see the track contents (sometimes) but the progress indicator down at the bottom left of ACID stays at 99%, my cpu hits 100% and that's it. Clearly this is a fairly isolated case or else this forum would be full of screaming users. I am simply worn out trying to simply use ACID w/o these sorts of problems. |

I'd send your project file to Sony; they may well be able to see what's wrong and fix it for you. I believe you can now attach files on the email support page - I doubt they'd need the associated audio or plugs. Ben |

There are no "heavy" plugs in that project. Probably U R right ,it's not about plugs.But.. if this project is really important to U.. well.. I would do the following thing : I 'd uninstall one by one all plugs involved and try open the porject again and again after every uninstall procedure. ACID is going to open your project eventually.. obviously with an error.. because of missing plugs.. the point is U going to know for sure what causes the freezing thing. |

Definitely try what Ben suggested and send the project along to SPD. I take it no other projects other than this one project are exhibiting the problem? Iacobus ------- RodelWorks - Original Music for the Unafraid Buy Instant ACID by JohnnyRoy and mD! mD at ACIDplanet |

This is driving me absolutely nuts. Is there a way to disable auto-project reload? I found an older .acd-zip file that I could load and I had been working on that. But now ACID is reloading the project at startup and guess what? It's locking up at 99% loaded again. The .acd-zip files is 100mb. |

In preferences, you have to "uncheck" Automatically Open Last Project on startup. Since you can't get to the preference page right now, just find and click on a project file that's much smaller than the one that you opened last in Acid. This will open Acid using the project that you picked and you can know make the adjustment in the preference page. Message last edited on5/10/2005 1:53:24 PM bymerlyn. |

Time to offer up some mildly embarassment. Turns out - I had shuffled my VSTi subdir as well and that had scrambled ACID's brains. After I was able to turn off auto-load (thanks for the tip) - I did a manual re-scan of VSTs and VSTis and then the project loaded right up. Thanks for the help and suggestions. |

B.C., I'm so glad you found the problem. I've been there so often. I've even asked the same questionafter 6 months! I think modern computers and apps are so complicated that the opportunities for conflicts are enormous... and it's so frustrating when we can't find the solution. I've become very cautious about loading new stuff on my music computer, especially vsts. |
